Richard Pigeon 5km (memorial run)
The Club Espoir, a triathlon club for youth in the Outaouais, has been organizing the Gatineau Triathlon for several years. We dedicate the 5 km event to a close friend of the Club, Richard Pigeon, who left us too soon.
Richard was a marathon runner and cyclist and involved in amateur sport in the region for many years. He dedicated his time to the Club Espoir on many levels, as a coach and volunteer administrator.
If you took part in the Gatineau Triathlon in 2013, you probably saw him. He was encouraging you to give your best, as he did for so many youth in the region. He was passionate about sport and knew how to share his desire to achieve and excel to all those that had the opportunity to know him.
Thank you Richard for all that you have done for the Club Espoir and its young athletes. The legacy that you have left is a benefit to everyone that you came in contact with at Club Espoir, in the past and well into the future. Richard passed away from cancer of the prostate at the end of 2013. He fought with the courage, determination and strength that he was known for…
We are renaming the 5 km run the Richard Pigeon 5 km. In his memory, Club Espoir gives 50% of the 5 km profits to the Fondation Santé Gatineau.
